I used to follow a bunch of blogs back in college that were in to the obscure genres I liked. That was back in the oughts, so I don't know how it's changed since then. Now I just kinda listen to what I like and don't have the mental energy to devote to exploring for new stuff anymore :(

Music blogs used to be so great. Back then, you could find blogs that were heavily focused around pirating. Like, they would review/describe an album, and then at the end of the review they would just straight up link to a Rapidshare download of the entire album in FLAC

Really miss that stuff. Not sure there's anything like it nowadays.

I browse genres on spotify, within those there are numerous playlists of different sub genres and some are updated weekly

Also I use the playlist radio feature, although it tends to be a lot of the same music over and over again no matter what playlist I use

I also check metacritic for new releases

Discover weekly on spotify is good too, but that only gets me a handful of songs per week since it's only like 30 total every Monday

Honestly, I've been falling very behind on listening to new stuff (or discovering awesome new-to-me stuff). My interest in music must be flagging. Or I'm depressed. I haven't listened to a lot of newer stuff that is *squarely* within where my interests lie. I haven't listened to the new LCD Soundsystem yet.

I don't use any streaming stuff except for occasional Pandora usage in the car. My music library that I have on my home server (and uploaded to Google Music) is huge, almost 30k tracks.

What's pretty big for me in recent years is the 'Best Of' lists that you find at the end of the year. I scour those pretty heavily and go on a mass downloading spree of dozens of albums every January. Every year, some generous soul compiles a torrent of Pitchforks Top 100 singles, which I download.

I used to read reviews way more religiously. That used to be a pretty big help in finding new stuff.

Last.fm has been around a while, but it's still pretty great IMO.

wras 88.5 in Atlanta. Still discover rad shit all the time on it. Especially on the "Velvet Morning" showgaze show on friday night (or is is Thurs and Fri night?)

Been listening to this station for fucking 25 years. Discovered Jay Z, Biggie, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros, etc etc etc on it.

There are only ~10 bands I listen to now that I wasn't already listening to in college 15 years ago. Sad, but I just don't feel like I have the time anymore.

I do the following: listen to side projects of people I like, people they collaborate with, stuff on the same label, etc.; used to look at blogs like BrooklynVegan and a handful of others I don't remember but it's been 8-10 years :( ; occasionally I'll listen to an artist's "radio" on Spotify or Pandora and they'll mix in other stuff, but it's mostly music I've heard already and not new stuff; Pitchfork's and others' best-of lists, but I feel too old for that now and it takes a lot of time; festival lineups can be decent, too.
